Because if fiction writers can’t imagine a better world, who can?

In this post, I’m going behind-the-scenes with a recent short story called “Dog Deities.” I’ll share where the idea came from, the process for drafting and gathering feedback, and the big creative decisions I made along the way.

Art is communication. When a piece of writing is in a middle state where it’s had effort poured into it but hasn’t yet been released to an audience, it can feel empty, like the tree falling in the forest with no one to hear.
