The type of thing I used to write for Newport Beach Magazine, and by the time it gets to print, the title might not be as fun. But, here it is … the unedited version!
I’m On a Boat
T-Pain wouldn’t leave his boat to grab a bite to eat, and neither should you. Check out these seaside restaurants that bring the picnic dockside.

Cheese quesadillas with brie, goat cheese and aged cheddar might suit your fancy on a sunny summer afternoon, or perhaps, Mexican white shrimp with oysters and blackened tuna with a habanero cocktail sauce. These delicacies are some examples from the choices offered on a platter for two by The Cannery (cannerynewport.com). Rent one of their Duffys or be served on your own boat.
With a fresh margarita kit, become both a boatman and a mixologist, simultaneously! Sol Cocina (solcocina.com) is your place. Five unique tasting menus are offered, created by Executive Chef Deborah Schneider.
No boat necessary to dine at Balboa Bay Club (balboabayclub.com). The hotel rents its two Duffy boats to guests and a picnic lunch delivered dockside will be prepared by room service. Popular items include champagne, chocolate covered strawberries and sandwiches.
In cahoots with Duffy of NB, Bluewater Grill (bluewatergrill.com) provides party platters delivered dockside to Duffy rentals. Choose from the veggie & hummus, sandwiches, or fruit & cheese. Other harborside restaurants will deliver takeout orders to your boat as well (duffyofnewportbeach.com).
Starting June 15, I will be employed by a tech start-up. I’m excited for the opportunity and the challenge, and not surprisingly, looking forward to using more hyperlinks in my writing!
